Common questions
- Do my subcontractors need to be on Constratto?
- Yes — but it's free for them and takes about two minutes to set up. Subcontractors actively browse open assignments, so many are already looking for the kind of work you're posting.
- We already use project management software. Do we need another tool?
- Most project management tools start after the contract is signed. Constratto handles what comes before: sourcing subcontractors, comparing bids, and generating a signed contract. Many teams use both.
- Is this suitable for a sole trader or very small company?
- Yes. Constratto works for a one-person operation as well as larger teams. You only need an active Norwegian org.nr. to register.
- Who can see the documents I upload?
- Only the parties on the contract can access its documents — the contractor who posted the assignment and the subcontractor whose bid was accepted. No other users, companies, or Constratto staff can view your files.
- Are the contracts generated by Constratto legally binding in Norway?
- Yes. Contracts are signed digitally by both parties and timestamped. They reference the agreed scope, price, and milestones, making them enforceable under Norwegian contract law (avtaleloven). We recommend involving a lawyer for high-value engagements, but the contract structure covers the fundamentals.
- What file types can I upload to the document vault?
- PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), images (PNG, JPG), and CAD exports are all supported. Each file is versioned so you can track changes over time and always access previous revisions.
- What happens to my documents if I cancel my subscription?
- Your data is yours. You have 30 days after cancellation to export all contracts, documents, and project history as a ZIP archive. After that, data is deleted from our servers in accordance with our retention policy.
- Can subcontractors see each other's bids?
- No. Bids are sealed — only the contractor who posted the assignment can view incoming bids. Subcontractors never see competitor pricing or terms.
- How does milestone sign-off work?
- The subcontractor marks a milestone complete and optionally attaches photos or delivery notes. The contractor receives a notification and approves or requests changes with one click. Every action is timestamped and stored on the contract record, giving both sides a clear audit trail.
- Is Constratto free for subcontractors?
- Yes. Subcontractors can browse assignments, submit bids, and manage contracts at no cost. Contractors pay a subscription to post assignments and access advanced project management features.
