How we calculate the saving
The calculator multiplies a per-task time saving by how often that task happens in your year. Each task below shows the minutes a small Norwegian main contractor — an owner or project manager with no procurement department — typically spends on it today versus on Constratto. You normally invite several subcontractors for every package you award, so sourcing, quote-chasing and comparison are counted per firm you contact (subcontracts signed × firms asked), while drafting a contract is counted once per signed contract. These are conservative estimates, not measured averages, and you can change every one of them above. Headcount does not enter the total — the workload is set by your project and subcontractor counts — it only splits the result per person.

The formula
Yearly hours saved comes in three parts, each divided by 60: sourcing, quote-chasing and comparison minutes × (subcontracts signed per project × firms asked per subcontract × projects per year); contract-drafting minutes × (subcontracts signed per project × projects per year); and per-project minutes × projects per year. Value of time = hours × your hourly rate. Gross saving = value of time plus any lawyer and dispute savings. Net saving = gross saving minus the Constratto subscription for the plan and billing period you picked.
Optional money items
Lawyer fees: subcontracts per year × the share a lawyer touches × cost per contract. Off by default.
Dispute reduction: subcontracts per year × average contract value × a small recovered share (0.2% by default). Off by default, and clearly an estimate.

What it looks like for a typical firm
A small main contractor, 8 projects a year
Eight projects, six subcontracts each — 48 awards. Invite about three firms per package and that is roughly 144 quote rounds a year. At a 750 kr/hour rate the calculator lands around 340 hours and roughly 250 000 kr of admin time freed up, before any lawyer or dispute savings — about nine working weeks handed back to the person running the jobs.
A busier firm, 15 projects a year
Fifteen projects with eight subcontracts each — 120 awards and around 360 quote rounds — pushes the estimate to roughly 800 hours a year, close to half a full-time role. The subscription becomes a rounding error against the time recovered, and the payback lands in the first few weeks.
A firm that uses a lawyer for contracts
Turn on the lawyer assumption — say a third of contracts at 3 500 kr each — and the cash saving alone adds tens of thousands of kroner a year on top of the time saved.
Questions about the calculator
- Where do the numbers come from?
- Every per-task minute figure is listed in the "how we calculate" section. They are conservative estimates of how a small Norwegian main contractor without a procurement department typically works, not measured averages. Adjust them to match your own experience.
- Do you store what I type in?
- No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, saved to your device, or logged. If you share the page URL it carries your inputs so someone else sees the same result — that is the only place your numbers go.
- Is this a guarantee of savings?
- No. It is an estimate to help you size the opportunity. Your actual saving depends on how you work today and how fully you adopt the platform.
- Why is time the biggest number?
- For most small contractors the scarce resource is the owner's or project manager's hours, not cash. Constratto's main job is to take repetitive coordination work off that person's plate. The optional money items cover the cash side.
- Does this apply to subcontractors too?
- The calculator is built for the main contractor who posts assignments and manages subcontracts. Subcontractors use Constratto for free, so there is no subscription cost to weigh against their time saving.
- Why does asking more subcontractors raise the estimate?
- Because most of the sourcing work happens before you sign. For each package you award you typically invite about three firms, chase their quotes and compare them, then sign one. The calculator counts that work per firm you contact, so raising "firms you ask per subcontract" raises the hours to match. Drafting the contract is still counted once per signed contract.
- Should I multiply the saving by the number of people on my team?
- No. The hours come from your project and subcontractor volume, not your headcount — more people doing the same coordination work does not create more work to save. The team-size field only splits the saved hours per person and points you to a plan with enough user seats.
